    UTERINE FIBROID TREATMENT

    Uterine Fibroid Embolization

Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) is a minimally invasive treatment for non-cancerous fibroid growths in the uterus. Fibroids may cause heavy periods, pelvic pain, back pain, frequent urination, constipation, bloating, and abdominal enlargement.

    Symptoms Treated

    • Heavy or prolonged bleeding
    • Pelvic pain and pressure
    • Back or leg pain
    • Frequent urination
    • Constipation or bloating

    Treatment

UFE is performed through a tiny skin puncture, usually in the groin. A catheter is guided into the uterine arteries using real-time imaging. Tiny particles are released to block blood flow to the fibroids, causing them to shrink over time. It usually does not require open surgery or general anesthesia.

    Benefits

    • Minimally invasive
    • Uterus-preserving option
    • Short hospital stay
    • Faster recovery
    • Helpful for multiple fibroids
